Red Raider Lamb Classic

Every year, hundreds of lambs are entered in the Red Raider Lamb Classic; it's a show that the organization puts on for 4-H and FFA kids across the region. It’s an exciting event that attracts many kids to come and enjoy a weekend of showing and great prizes! This past year we had a record number of entries and kids participating.

Relay for Life

Believe it or not… nothing is more rewarding than spending a cold April night on the Texas Tech University track and field eating pizza and playing washers or flag football. This past year was the first year for AECGO graduate students to participate in the themed “Disney” Relay for Life. Our team chose to represent the movie, “A Bug’s Life” and raise awareness for breast cancer. The requirements were to have a team member walk around the track at all times during the duration of the event. With survivors and family members of those affected with cancer sharing stories, it was a heart-felt moment and experience that we will never forget.

Adopt an Angel

One of the most treasured holidays for so many is more often than not a celebration to others. Christmas is a time for family, love, and a celebration of good times. There are many children in the Lubbock community that don’t get to celebrate Christmas or receive any gifts. AECGO adopted a family with two boys and two girls and was able to buy each child a bike and helmet, clothes and jackets. One of the best opportunities of the season is to give, and the organization really came together for such an exciting event!

Arbor Day

Annually, Texas Tech University celebrates Arbor Day by sending organizations all over the campus to plant trees, flowers, and shrubs. This year we were able to plant more than 100 flowers by the stadium with the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and AgEco undergraduate clubs.

Annual Banquet

“The best yet!” This year’s banquet, with a lot of planning, was a huge success! This year it was held in the City Bank room in the Spirit Arena. With a fabulous meal, more than 100 guests and a great room, we celebrated scholarships, awards, past members and current events that had gone on throughout the year.

Other Activities

Some other activities that our graduate students were able to participate and help with this year were: State FFA Convention, research conferences, FFA State Career Development Events, and Leadership Development Events that were held on campus.
