Sports
From flag football to softball, Alpha Delta Pi
intramurals provides an unforgettable and
entertaining way to get involved at Texas Tech
University. During the fall semester, ADPi competes
in flag football, basketball, and volleyball. The
spring semester has us looking forward to Softball,
and more flag football. If you were worried about
not being able to play your favorite sport in high
school, no worries, everyone is welcome to play!
Social
The ADPi’s may stay busy on campus, but they also
know how to have fun too! We have many social
events that take away from the stress of our
classes. This year, our Black Diamond Formal was
held at the elegant Baker Building in downtown
Lubbock. Sisters and their dates enjoyed a sit down
dinner followed by an awards banquet, casino tables
followed by a night of dancing. One of the most
anticipated social events each year is the “Match
Made in Hollywood” social. For this date party, we
leave our cocktail dresses in our closets and the
attire is all about famous Hollywood couples! This
annual event is held at a local venue that sets the
perfect setting for this red carpet event and
features music, dancing and fun! Annually our Greek
Week and Homecoming socials are larger and usually
help with multiple fraternities. Some past themes
for various socials include “Lion in the Hospital,
Date Dash, Cuff your Crush, Black Diamond Ball,
Preppy Pi’s and Polo Guys, ADPi Winter Semi-Formal,
and many, many more!
From time to time, usually once or twice
a semester we hold sister socials to allow girls to
get together kick back and relax for some
traditional girl time. Movie nights, Pride
Activities, and fun in the sun are just a few of our
always favorites. Where ever a group of ADPi’s are
gathered you are sure to find good friends,
laughter, and excitement!
Leadership
The leadership within Alpha Delta Pi
continues to grow each year. There are numerous
opportunities for sisters to be involved in leading
on campus. Our sisters are always there to guide
those interested in getting involved and being
involved open doors for women that would not have
had these opportunities if it were not for Alpha
Delta Pi. Our sisters’ strong leadership on and off
the Texas Tech University campus has helped Alpha
Delta Pi make leadership a very valuable part of
many women’s college experience’s.

Philanthropy
Alpha Delta Pi’s national philanthropy is the Ronald
McDonald House Charities. The Epsilon Epsilon
chapter specifically serves the Ronald McDonald
House in Lubbock, Texas. RMH provides a “home away
from home” for families of hospitalized children or
those undergoing outpatient treatments in the
Lubbock area. In the houses, parents can break away
from the hospital environment, have the support of
other families, and ease some of the stress
associated with their child’s illness. It is a
place where families can feel at home, cook their
meals, watch TV, read, do their laundry, and enjoy
the comfort of a warm and friendly environment. The
local RMH features a family/sitting area donated to
the facility by our chapter and one of our devoted
alumni, Jan Broome.

In order to help support the Ronald
McDonald House Charities we hold our annual “Play
Days” kickball tournament to raise money for our
local RMH. With the help of local new media and
generous vendors, we enjoy great success with this
event each year! Throughout the semester, ADPi’s
collect pop tabs and wish list items that we donate
to the Ronald McDonald House. The money earned by
cashing in the pop tabs can be used to pay bills and
attend to the financial needs of the house each
month. Additionally, every month a group of ADPi’s
travel to the Ronald McDonald House and cook dinner
for families staying in the house.
An easy way to help your local RMH is to
donate everyday household products. Ronald McDonald
House uses everything your home does, except on a
larger scale, since they have multiple families
staying with them every night. Some items that most
Houses need on a regular basis include:
-
Paper products (tissue, toilet paper, paper towels,
paper plates)
-
Garbage bags
-
Aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and plastic sandwich
bags
-
Laundry detergent and fabric softener
-
Cleaning Products (scrub pads, sponges, dishwashing
liquid, dishwasher detergent)
-
Bath and bedroom items (sheets, pillow cases,
towels, shower curtains)
-
Personal care products (deodorant, tooth paste, bath
soap, shampoo, conditioner)
-
Entertainment products (games, video, books)
More on ADPi Philanthropy….
Alpha Delta Pi collegians and alumnae, as well as
friends and family of members of Alpha Delta Pi,
show their philanthropic spirit in many ways.
Chapters, alumnae associations and outstanding
volunteers are recognized at Grand Convention for
their philanthropic achievements.
Commitment to the Alpha Delta Pi international
philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House Charities,
was made in 1979 and continues today. Since
beginning its association, Alpha Delta Pi has
contributed over $2 million to this worthwhile
effort. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)
supports Ronald McDonald Houses in local
communities, as well as funding grants to other
not-for-profit organizations whose programs focus on
children in need. There are 195 Ronald McDonald
Houses in 16 countries, whose function is to provide
comfort, care and "a home-away-from-home" for the
families of seriously ill children who are receiving
treatment at nearby hospitals. In addition to
donating money to this worthwhile cause, many Alpha
Delta Pi collegiate chapters and alumnae
associations spend their time and energy
volunteering at these houses. For more information
concerning Ronald McDonald House Charities, please
visit the RMHC Home Page at www.rmhc.com.
At the 2003 Grand Convention in Houston, TX, the
Alpha Delta Pi Foundation announced its commitment
to sponsor a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. The Ronald
McDonald Care Mobiles provide immunizations and
health screenings, oral health services, diagnosis
and treatment of chronic disease and health
education to children who would otherwise go without
health care. The Trustees chose to make a commitment
to the Care Mobile affiliated with the UMASS
Memorial Health Care in Worchester, MA with a pledge
of $150,000 over three years to provide funds for
the operations of the unit.
Each Ronald McDonald Care Mobile houses two patient
examination rooms including prenatal exam
capabilities, a laboratory, and a reception and
medical records area. Some vehicles include a
hearing screen booth, while others offer a dental
hygiene room - a unique service not typically
available in other mobile health care programs. The
staff of a Care Mobile may consist of a
pediatrician, a pediatric nurse, a dentist, a dental
hygienist and a program manager; other staff members
may include a social worker and other pediatric
specialists.
The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation is honored
to be able to expand its philanthropic efforts to
include the Care Mobile program. This program allows
the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation to further fulfill its
mission of seeking to improve the lives of women and
the communities in which they live.
Information on this Care Mobile can be found at
