ASID Student Membership What is ASID?The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is a nonprofit professional society representing the interests of interior designers and the interior design community. The society is lead by a volunteer board of directors. ASID gives members access to an array of marketing tools, research information and exclusive products and services through the ASID Advantage program. These daily operations are carried out by a small staff housed in the society's headquarters in Washington, D.C.Student Membership As an interior design student at Texas Tech University you can join ASID as a student member and receive all of the benefits. Our student chapter is one of the largest in the nation. We meet once a month in the Human Sciences building. Our meetings often contain a speaker in the interior design field. We also have many activities that take place throughout the year to help you get more acquainted with the interior design field and the interior design students at TTU. Cost of membership is $50 a year but the benefits out way the cost. There are many benefits to being involved in ASID. These benefits included getting to know fellow students within your major, as well as discounts at local stores with your ASID membership card. Some of the other benefits include scholarships, design competitions and internship opportunities that would be hard to come by when looking on your own. Advance Your Future CareerThe Texas Tech ASID Student Chapter provides the opportunity for interior design students to interact with professional designers and industry partners. We also try to expand students knowledge of the professional aspects of interior design. Our chapter offers many opportunities for student participation. Know Your Peers Joining the chapter also helps you get to know your fellow interior design peers. This is valuable because upperclassmen can help in giving much needed information, and you can also get to know the students in your own class. Resume Builder Joining ASID will look great on your resume' and will pay off in the end! Scholarships The local ASID chapter gives out a $50 scholarship each year to one of the outstanding members!
