Officers DUTIES The purpose of this page is to inform each of you what the officers do so that if you have a question or concern you know who to talk to! Also, we have officer elections at the end of each Spring semester. So, if you are interested in becoming an officer of our A.S.I.D. chapter, please read these positions and see what you would be best suited for!
President Well, the president of A.S.I.D. has many jobs. This person is the "glue" of our organization. He/she sets up the calendar for both group and officer meetings as well as finds community service projects for the organization to participate in. He/she will have many opportunities to travel and make numerous contacts. This position is time consuming, but well worth it. He/she also teaches the President-Elect so that he/she may take over in the next year.
PRESIDENT-ELECT This is a two year position and the person elected should either graduate in May of the year they hold the president position or graduate after the term is fulfilled. The President Elect attends all group meetings and officer meetings. Also, you will help the President when needed. Attend all the SGA meetings with President and Treasure. If the president is absent, it is up to the Elect to fill in. You should attend as many A.S.I.D. conferences as possible. President-Elect is also in charge of community service projects; one each semester. The president-elect job is a shadowing position. The first year is to learn and gain experience. The second year however will be more intense.
DESIGN EXPO CHAIR 1 YEAR BEFORE

DESIGN EXPO-Elect To assist the Expo Chair in whatever they may need help with from the spring to the fall and the day of expo. Specifically in charge of t-shirts for Expo and the raffle drawing on the day of Expo. This is a two year commitment.
TREASURER Treasurer is in charge of the finances of ASID. He/she will work with SGA on a regular basis and will need to know how to balance a checkbook. It is not extremely time consuming, but one will need to set time aside every week to make sure things are on track. This person will be responsible for making payments, reimbursements, and purchases throughout the year.
PUBLICITY CHAIR Publicity has a very important job. They are to let the members know about the upcoming meetings and events within A.S.I.D. They are to make informational posters 3-4 weeks before each meeting to be displayed in the cabinet down stairs in the design department. Keeping the cabinet updated is VERY important. Also, this officer is to attend all meetings, and help out with other events. *Note: The Publicity and Hospitality offices will be combined
HOSPITALITY CHAIR The hospitality officer is in charge of the Christmas Party in the fall and the Senior Dinner in the spring. The officer needs to have the location of the event booked by July to insure a spot for the parties. Hospitality also brings refreshments to each meeting for members to enjoy. This officer is to attend all meetings and help out when needed. *Note: The Publicity and Hospitality offices will be combined
MEMBERSHIP CHAIR This
job is very important because it allows the Student Chapter to be
organized into the largest and most coordinated group that it can
be. As membership chairman, the officer is responsible for
recruiting new members and keeping records of each. *Note: The Historian and Membership offices will be combined
HISTORIAN As historian of ASID student chapter, your responsibilities include taking pictures at all meetings (both officer and regular for the notebook), collect information from each meeting that you can put in the notebook. You also must compile a notebook to enter in for the outstanding chapter award at the end of the year. As an officer (regardless of your position) you need to be willing to help the other officers on projects they are working on or duties they may need help on. ASID is a great organization and leadership skills will only help make the student chapter better. *Note: The Historian and Membership offices will be combined

THIS IS AN APPOINTED POSITION! IT IS NOT AN ELECTED POSITION!
JOB FAIR The Job Fair will be in the spring semester for the most part. However, this position will require some much needed time in order to make it successful. This person will start compiling a list of potential firms that we would like to have in our job fair. Then, in the spring, this officer will start gathering firms to be a part of our job fair. There will also be a job fair-elect position to help out with everything.
JOB FAIR-Elect Job Fair is a position that really only requires work in the Spring semester. As job fair elect, you will shadow the job fair officer in everything that they do for job fair. As the job fair officer, you will be involved in meeting with the Career Center, who is helping to host our job fair, to put out an invitation packet to be sent to all firms on the existing list, and a follow-up information packet to be sent to firms that send "yes" RSVPs. The career center is also allowing us to use their computer system, to offer online sign-up times for interview slots. You will be responsible for getting all of the information to the seniors and students, to sign up for slots, and for getting information about the firms to the career center. As the job fair officer, you will also be responsible for choosing a date and location for job fair, and coordinating any firms with the seniors and internship students. Next year, the career center wishes to contact every firm separately, and set up all of the firms with the job posting system, so you will be responsible for getting this information to the Career Center. Also, you will need to update any firms that have wrong addresses, and add more firms, to the master list, both as job fair elect, and as the job fair officer.
