About Us

The Texas Tech BFSA is an advocacy organization committed to assuming a leadership role and setting a tone for building a sense of community among African people (the collective of African descendants of the Continent and in the Diaspora) which includes Black faculty, staff, and students in the university community and within the larger African-American community.

“Our goal is not only to honor pioneers in the community and raise scholarship funds, but also to acknowledge individuals who make Lubbock a diverse and great place to study and live,” Dr. Wendy Ross, Texas Tech Law Professor and secretary of BFSA.
