Potential of Old World Bluestems and Lovegrass for Grazing Lambs in the Southern High Plains

Dawn is pursuing a career as a mom.

Specific Objectives:

bulletTo determine seasonal distribution of forage mass and total dry matter yield.
bulletTo determine nutritive value - CP, fiber (ADF, NDF), carbohydrates (TNC), and minerals maintained under grazing.
bulletTo determine animal performance - total gain, daily gain, gain/ha, and carrying capacity.
bulletTo determine effects of grazing and plant species on soil compaction and soil fertility.
bulletTo investigate differences in mineral composition of the forages and availability of minerals to the grazing animal.
