We know Foundation Retreat sounds great, but we understand having more questions. Here are some things we wondered/worried about before we went to Foundation:

What if I go to Foundation and miss out on Welcome Week?
We understand this one; it is your first week on campus, after all. BUT come to Foundation and we promise you will get more than some "Hi my name is (blank), I'm from (wherever), and my major is (whatever, for now)." At Foundation you'll have four days to build real relationships with other new students and all of us on staff. We'll also give you a really cool t-shirt.

What if I should just stay to settle in with my roommate?
Trust us. You will have a very long time to get to know your new roommate, as well as settle in to your huge new dorm room. Better yet, invite your roommate too!

What if I won't be able to relate to anyone there?
With 62 students on staff as well as all the other new students coming to camp, we're sure you will not only find someone like you, but most likely your best friends at Tech, future roommates, and a ton of Facebook adds. Believe us, we did! Staff comes from many different backgrounds, states, denominations and churches; we can't wait to find out where you're coming from.

What if I can't afford camp right now?
Good question. We know how expensive it is to be a college student. We have several scholarships available, just shoot us an e-mail and only our finance chairs will handle it.

What if I am planning to take IS 1100 (Freshman Seminar) instead?
We get this question a lot, so to answer, take it from our 2008 male director David Sadowski who attended IS 1100 instead of Foundation.

"I made the mistake of taking IS 1100 instead of going to Foundation camp. My parents and I thought that taking the class would be beneficial, because of what the advisors and deans had been saying about the IS 1100 course, but this was the biggest mistake of my college career! In my opinion, the IS 1100 freshman seminar is not worth the time of most incoming freshman. In short, the class is basically a glorified tour of campus. The papers assigned had no relevance to my freshman year success at Texas Tech. By enrolling in IS 1100 instead of attending Foundation, I missed out on all the opportunities to get plugged- in. I missed out on making a bunch of new Christian friends and I also missed out on learning about all the Christian organizations on campus that I had no idea were out there. Due to that choice, I suffered my first semester in college. I struggled with finding good solid Christian friends and because of that I made some choices that I otherwise would never have made!"

"I strongly recommend that you do not take IS 1100!! Instead take advantage of the opportunities that Tech has to offer like Foundation Camp. Finding your niche on campus is what will make you successful at Tech, not some freshman seminar."

-David Sadowski

What if I'm a transfer student?
Please come! Transfer students are welcome to come. We have had several transfer students in the past years.

What if I am ready to sign up?
Register Online or we will be taking registrations all the way up to the second we leave. So tell everyone you know: "It is never too late to sign up for Foundation!"

What if Foundation isn't really that great?
Bad question. Just kidding. But seriously. Foundation is awesome.
