CONSTITUTION
LUTHERAN STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
LUBBOCK , TEXAS

PREAMBLE

Be it known that the following constitution was written exclusively for the Tech Chapter of the Lutheran Student Fellowship in Lubbock , Texas . Whereas, the name of the organization is as previously stated and shall hereafter be known. This constitution, with its duly authorized amendments and by-laws, shall be the highest authority on the operation of the Tech Chapter of the Lutheran Student Fellowship.

ARTICLE I

Purpose
The Lutheran Student Fellowship is a family offering every day opportunities to know and share the love of Christ through fellowship and the study of Scripture and with the support of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and other Lutheran Churches .

 

ARTICLE II

Membership
1. Membership is open to any Lubbock college or university students.

2. Students may use the Lutheran Center and facilities at any time, as long as they have a key contact and sign log in after hours.

3. Students or members who exhibit incongruent behavior, as seen by the Campus Council, may receive disciplinary action as decided by the Campus Council.

 

ARTICLE III

Officers
1. Selection of Executive Board Officers

A. Officers will be nominated and voted on by students.

B. Director of Campus Ministry will serve as an advisor of the process.

2. Selection of the Faculty Advisor

The advisor is selected by the students in the spring for the following academic year. S/he should be a full-time faculty or staff member of Texas Tech University 's Main Campus.

3. An appointment may occur at any time necessary to fill a vacant position.

A. Offices vacated before the completion of the term shall be elected by the students with the exception of the position of Director of Campus Ministry is vacant, the Faculty Advisor shall assume the position, holding all rights, privileges, and responsibilities thereof until the position is filled.

B. When the office of Faculty Advisor of the President of the Campus Ministry Advisory Council becomes vacant, the students and council shall hold a special election to fill such positions for the existing term.

4. The officers of the association shall be:

A. President--Shall meet with and report to the Director of Campus Ministry on a regular basis, assist the Director with programs and supervision, attend leadership training opportunities, serve on the campus Ministry Advisory Council, motivate members to participate, and serve for one academic.

B. Vice-President, Historian, Secretary, Spiritual Life Leader, Publicity Officer--They assist the Director with their programs and supervision, attend leadership training opportunities if they wish, motivate members to participate, and serve for one academic year.

C. Director of Campus Ministry--S/he shall be an advisor, responsible to the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and the Campus Ministry Advisory Council, with all the rights and responsibilities as outlined by the Church and Council.

D. Faculty Advisor--S/he shall be responsible to the Campus Ministry Advisory Council and the Executive Board. S/he shall serve for one academic year, support the program, and serve as a contact person on the campus.

5. If the director of Campus Ministry, Faculty Advisor, and Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod do not concur with the direction of the student-led program, they have the right to dissolve the organization.

 

ARTICLE IV

Campus Ministry Advisory Council
1. Purpose:

  • To actively support the campus ministry program through knowledge and management.
  • To be made up of local Lutheran Church members and interested persons.

2. The Council's officers should include: President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Faculty Advisor.

  • Each should perform his/her respected duties, unless otherwise stated in this constitution.

3. Elections will be held in the spring for the following academic year.

4. Term of office is for one academic year.

5. The Council has the authority to oversee the program on a local basis and the Director of the Campus Ministry.

6. The Council will serve as a resource and a sounding board to the Director and student officers when needed.

7. Each Council member is expected to attend at least one activity per semester.

 

ARTICLE V

Programs for Students
Fellowship, education, and service opportunities are available to members who wish to participate.

 

ARTICLE VI

Methods of Amending
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the Campus Ministry Advisory Council after proposed amendments have been approved by officers.
