The
National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors encourages
composition of new wind and percussion works with educational and recital
value through its biennial commissioning project.
For its 2003-2004 competition, NACWPI invites composers to submit
proposals for new works. The
winning work will be premiered at the In-Service Conference of the Music
Educators National Conference in Minneapolis, MN, April 14-17, 2004, and
published by Southern Music Company of San Antonio, Texas. Project Proposal Guidelines DEADLINE: Postmark no later than January 15, 2003
AWARD: Winner will receive: 1. One-page description of instrumentation, concept, duration,
and difficulty level of proposed work to be composed after 2. List
of previous compositions for wind and/or percussion instruments, if any. 3. One
score with CD or cassette tape recording of composer’s most
representative work. 4. Short biographical sketch, including address and
telephone number, and additional supporting materials at the composer’s
discretion. 5. Self-addressed
stamped postcard to confirm receipt of materials. 6. Self-addressed
stamped envelope for return of materials.
