Discussion: New membership and information forms created. No minutes from last meeting. Roles and responsibilities for

 

each officer position discussed.

           

Officer Elections

Candidates

 

 

Discussion: All candidates spoke on their qualifications for their positions. Speech for Vice President of Multimedia

 

candidate, Genelle Miffleton, delivered in absentia by CJ VanBaarle. Vice President of Leadership & Scholarship – no

 

candidate present and no speech given. Election delayed until next meeting.

 

Conclusions: All officers giving speeches were elected as presented

       

Fundraisers

Discussion: “Go Greek” license plate and Delta shirt T-shirt presented. No Alumni Association shirts currently exists -

 

possibly a major fundraiser. Officer polo shirts discussed with approximate cost of $15.

 

Conclusions: Fundraising committee established with Anastasia (Treasurer) and Jennifer (Executive Vice President) as

 

co-chairs.

       

Other Fundraising Ideas

Discussion: Chocolate selling ideas: Wal-Mart or Free Speech area. October 10 is National Denim Day (National Breast

 

Cancer Awareness Day). Request needs to be filed five days in advance with SGA. Car wash and T-shirt fundraisers

 

discussed. Cheesecake selling discussed (make or buy). Shockingly sour suckers. Kiss the Pig fundraiser (using Dana or

 

President Whitmore). Private label candies (ordering in bulk and selling at restaurants or convention). Using NHS

 

involvement in fundraising. Having a competition with Greek organizations on campus for charity fundraising. Casa Ole

 

$5 gift certificate selling. Restaurant fundraiser using notable public figures as weight staff – possible media exposure.

       

Leadership Debriefing

Discussion: Leadership was based on an eight book series. Dull, but somewhat informative. Salsa dance lessons Friday.

       

University Day

Discussion: Occurring in United Spirit Arena. Will be selling Tech T-shirts in conjunction with Admissions Office. Major

 

fundraiser. Opportunity to meet service and fundraiser requirements for scholarship recipients.

       

District I Meeting

Discussion: Occurring at South Plains College - Reece Center campus on Saturday, October 18, from 10am to 4pm.

Discussion: Possible that this year’s will be video taped. Dates are suggestions. Most likely will be set for Nov. 7.

Discussion: Mid-February deadline for the organization picture. Individual and group pictures available - need to inform

 

them in advance. One week notification before events – office in Journalism building.

       

Officer Retreat/Training

Discussion: Officer schedules prohibited Cloudcroft trip. Will occur Sunday, October 19 (1:30 until finished) on campus.

       

Social Events

Discussion: Cornfield maze at At’l Do Farms: $6 per person with coupon. Delta Intramural volleyball, tennis or other

 

teams proposal ($60 per year / $15 forfeit for each game missed). A&M Tech game – want to meet before the game.

 

Lunch groups proposed: Texas Ice House bar-b-cue on Broadway across from UP, use for recruiting. Hiking trip possible.

       

Other Business

Discussion: Explanation of where the SGA cubicle is on third floor of SUB. Officer meeting announced. Cubicle must be

 

staffed 15 hours per week – officers will be responsible for this. Officer meeting scheduled for 8:00pm next Tuesday at

 

office cubicle. October 10 – Student Organization Fair. Open to first 60 to 70 on campus organizations. Great opportunity

 

for recruiting and selling.

       

New Member

 

 

 

Discussion: Michael, a new member from New Mexico Military Institute, was introduced.
