Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters Alumni eNewsletter

November 2002

November 2002

We are pleased to present to you the first issue of Phi Theta Kappa's Alumni News Briefs!

Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Association Presidents, Alumni Association Advisors and members who have notified Headquarters of achieving alumni status will receive this electronic newsletter periodically. In this newsletter, we will share news of the associations and achievements of alumni members of the Society, as well as a variety of information of interest to alumni.

1. Get Connected!

Update your record in order to continue to receive the benefits of membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Go to the web site at http://www.ptk.org and click on "Get Connected" in the Quick Links Drop down menu. Many new online benefits have been added and alumni are eligible to participate.

2. Alumni Associations

Have you reported your new members to Headquarters? Alumni who join Alumni Associations are a vital part of Phi Theta Kappa's future. They support the people, programs and priorities of the Society and ensure the future success of new two-year chapter members. Report your new alumni association members to Headquarters by sending their names and addresses to the Development Office, Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters, P.O. Box 13729, Jackson, MS 39236.

3. Associations

Have you met your goals for 2002? Annual Report forms will be available in January and associations meeting their goals may use the report as part of the application for the Alumni Association Award of Merit to be presented at the International Convention in Anaheim. Take a few moments now to evaluate your goals and your progress.

4. Board of Directors Alumni Achievement Award

The Phi Theta Kappa Board of Directors Alumni Achievement Award is presented annually to an alumnus in recognition of his or her contributions in support of the Society's membership on the local, national and international levels. For more information on nominating an exceptional alumnus for this award, send an email to alumni.office@ptk.org.

5. The Arcturus Project

The first Phi Theta Kappa Regional Alumni Association Chapter Mentoring and Leadership Program, the Arcturus Project, is the Nevada/California Region Alumni Association's project dedicated to the successful college transfer of the active members in the NV/CA Region. A member of the NCRAA acts as a mentor/contact person for the active members of the community college chapter who are transferring to senior institutions. The duties of the Arcturus Mentor are to provide the community college chapter with NCRAA information, to help chapter members with questions concerning the transfer process and/or career information, and to recruit new NCRAA members. For more information on the Arcturus Project, email Adam Dince, NCRAA President at adam.dince@gcccd.net.

6. Share Your Success and Be Recognized

Have you undertaken a successful project with your association? Share your innovative and successful programs with fellow alumni by emailing information to alumni.office@ptk.org. We wish to share your successful projects with other associations in upcoming issues of Alumni News Briefs.

7. Receive a Permanent Email Address from Phi Theta Kappa

All Phi Theta Kappa members and alumni may establish a permanent Phi Theta Kappa email alias through which all electronic correspondence can be forwarded. A Phi Theta Kappa email alias adds prestige and ease to an email address. The alias, yourfirstname.yourlastname@ptk.org, will never change and will forward your mail no matter how many times you change your email provider. For more information about the email alias, visit http://getconnected.ptk.org/.

The Development Department exists to serve Phi Theta Kappa Alumni and their Associations. Please contact us with your questions, comments, news, suggestions or requests. Call 601.984.3540 or email alumni.office@ptk.org.
