A budget, or spending plan, is the most fundamental and most effective financial management tool available to you.  Whether you are earning thousands of dollars a year, or hundreds of dollars a year, it is extremely important to know how much money you have to spend and where you are spending it. 

We have included a Monthly Spending Plan worksheet as an Excel file so you will be able to download it to keep track of your spending. We also have a Yearly Spending Plan that you may download. The Tracking Worksheet will give you an example of how to track your expenses each month for understanding where your money goes.

We also have a Debt Payments Worksheet as an Adobe Acrobat file.  This document is for you to write down all of the creditors to whom you owe money to keep track of them.

Microsoft Money is a recommended tool for managing your finances. It is available for purchase at High Tech computer store in the Student Union. As part of the availability of Microsoft Money for TTU students, we have created a manual for this software, and are making it available as a PDF document posted under our Money Management section.
