What are the benefits of attending Red Raider Camp?

Red Raider Camp provides you with the opportunity to start building friendships and transitioning to life as a college student. This student-run and student-led camp is a great way to start your career as a Red Raider.

How much does Red Raider Camp cost?

The Red Raider Camp registration fee of $150 covers your lodging, meals, activities, and three camp t- shirts. The expense to the student will be for travel to and from Junction. *Please note: After June 1, 2008, NO refunds will be given, even if you register after June 1, 2008.

What time does Red Raider Camp start/end?

Check-in is from 12pm-1:30pm on the first day of camp. Red Raider Camp will conclude at 11am on the third day.

What if I don't get assigned to the session I picked as No. 1??

Camp sessions fill up quickly; therefore, we ask you to rank the sessions in order of your preferences. We will try to place you in one of your top three choices. In the event that all the camps fill up you will be placed on the wait list and assigned to a camp as soon as space becomes available.

Can Gateway students or transfer students attend Red Raider Camp?

Red Raider Camp is specifically designed for incoming freshmen that will be attending classes on the Texas Tech campus; so, it is not for Gateway students.  Transfer students now have an opportunity to attend a Red Raider Camp designed to meet their specific and unique needs.  Go to www.transferconnection.ttu.edu to find out more about Transfer Red Raider Camp.

What is the difference between New Student Orientation (NSO) and Red Raider Camp (RRC)?

NSO Deals with the fundamental necessities of college (i.e., housing, meal plans, parking, and registering for classes, etc.). Red Raider Camp is more about introducing first year students to the campus culture and giving them a head start in their college career. At Red Raider Camp you don't just hear about all the great traditions of Texas Tech, but you actually experience them, while making new friends at the same time!

What do the Red Raider Camp names stand for?

The names of each Red Raider Camp are intended to honor the first eight presidents of Texas Tech University. Each Red Raider Camp session offers the same experience and students are encouraged to sign up regardless of academic major or residence hall assignment.

When will I receive confirmation that I am attending camp?

You will receive a registration confirmation e-mail to your eRaider e-mail account upon registration. Please note that you are not confirmed for camp until we receive your medical release form and your registration fee. In addition to the confirmation e-mail you will receive a confirmation letter in the mail.
