About FYRE

Your journey begins here! Your first year at Texas Tech University is filled with so many opportunities and choices. The First Year Raider Experience (F.Y.R.E.) can guide you to a successful first year. F.Y.R.E. is a collaborative collection of programs and services in the Division of Student Affairs that will assist you in your transition to college living and provide a support system to help you navigate successfully to graduation. Follow the F.Y.R.E. road signs and success is just around the corner.

A First Year Red Raider:

  • Is successful academically
  • Is involved in developmental activities
  • Has a sense of self and of others
  • Takes accountability for his or her actions
  • Has selected a major
  • Has pride in the campus community and understands his or her role within that community
  • Completes their first year and remains at the university for a second year

First Year Raider Experience programs and services will help you:

  • experience greater connections to the campus through participation in programs and traditions.
  • understand the campus culture and will know resources available to them.
  • develop successful patterns academically and socially through connections with faculty, staff, and students.
  • make a connection between in and out of classroom experiences.
If you are a new transfer student at Texas Tech, your journey can be filled with F.Y.R.E. programs and activities like any other first year student. While this isn’t your first collegiate experience, this is your first year at Texas Tech, and we want to make you feel welcome and help you through your journey in higher education. Consider F.Y.R.E. as a way to get to know your new home!
