Scholarship Program

The following are the rules and guidelines governing the brothers of the Texas Tech Chapter of Sigma Pi International as pertaining to all articles of the Scholarship Program.

Any brother who makes below a 2.50 grade point average will be deemed on official academic probation. The following are the requirements for any brother who is put on academic probation. A brother who is academic probation for two consecutive semesters may be deemed in bad standing upon approval of the executive committee.

Any Brother who fails to maintain a 2.5 Grade Point Average every semester will be subject to study hall and fines. The number of study hall hours is determined by the Scholarship Chairman and the committee. Below is a listing of required hours relative to Grade Point Average.

2.49 - 2.00 2 hours per week.

1.99 - below 4 hours per week.

Brothers of the fraternity shall sign in and a log will be created to keep track of brothers present and hours spent. Brothers shall be required to complete a semester worth of hours and cannot lessen hours by showing performance through midterm Grade Point Averages, however significant results may be. Any brother who fails to complete the required hours necessary shall be fine five dollars ($5) per hour delinquent and a maximum of fifty dollars ($50) per semester. If a brother misses more than 16 consecutive hours or a total of 24 hours, that brother may be deemed in bad standing with the fraternity upon approval of Executive Committee.

Any Brother of the fraternity who fails to meet the academic standard will also be required to meet with the Scholarship Chairman to set up a time where the brother and chairman can develop a specific plan to try and improve deficient performance.

Any Brother who makes any Grade Point Average above 3.0 is subject to being awarded a discount on their dues as an incentive to maintain performance and possibly improve. The discounts are listed below

3.00 - 3.49 Ten Dollars ($10)

3.50 - 3.99 Thirty Dollars ($30)

4.00 Forty Dollars ($40)

The Scholarship Committee at the beginning of each semester shall meet to set an academic performance goal based on previous performance and future expectations. The Committee shall keep track of performance by obtaining midterm Grade Point Averages and then final Grade Point Averages. Records shall be kept so as to keep track of performance of brothers and also may be used as a tool for rush.

For a Brother to be initiated into the Fraternity a Grade Point Average of 2.50 from the prior semester is required. If the brother has not completed a full semester of college, a midterm Grade Point Average of 2.50 is required
