Sri Lankan Students Association
The world may name it as "Serendib", "Taprobane" or "Ceylon", this tiny island Sri Lanka is the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean". The country is a pearl indeed with a written history dating back more than 2500 years and is today adorned with rich traditions and a unique and splendid culture. The ranges of evergreen mountains garlanded with shining waterfalls and the breathtaking pristine beaches invite the world to a true heaven on earth. This island gives birth to inimitable Blue Sapphires and world class Ceylon Tea but beyond all of these; it is the hospitality of Sri Lankans that make this resplendent isle a living paradise.
Adding a little bit of color of Sri Lanka to Texas Tech community and the great Lubbock community, the Sri Lankan Students Association (SLSA) was founded in 2004 in order to formally represent the Sri Lankan expatriates living in Lubbock and also to promote awareness about Sri Lanka within the south plains. The main purpose of the SLSA is to bring the Sri Lankan community of Lubbock together in the year-round community activities and to promote the events and activities that foster strong relationships with the South Plains community. SLSA welcomes anyone who has an interest about Sri Lanka, its people, culture or wishes to extend helping hand in development projects in the country.
The association has been growing ever since from its foundation by the volume of annual work also by the membership. As members of the SLSA, we signify our motherland and share the Sri Lankan Way of amicable hospitality with all around us….
