05-29-2006: Update:

Well, it was another frustrating season in 2006, but there is HUGE hope for the future. Both Roger Kieschnick and Miles Morgan were named Big 12 Freshman of the year as position players and pitcher respectively. Fellow freshman Willie Rueda and James Leverton, as well as an improving Drew Evans are back next year. Matt Smith is back behind the plate as well...

Depending on the draft, we could have most of a pretty decent staff back with Aaron Odom, Colt Hynes, Josh Tomlin, and David Dinsmoore returning, as well as freshman A.J. Ramos. We lose Capps, Callendar, Smart, Stewart, Butler, and Richardson, but another young and talented class is coming in next year. This is the most exciting end of season we can remember, despite the rough finish. Look for the Red Raiders to challenge for the Big 12 Title in 2007.

MEANWHILE, good luck to all Big 12 schools in Regionals across the country, and congrats to a feisty KU squad that went in and took the Big 12 tourney title to earn an NCAA bid. Way to go, Jayhawks!
