I:
The student organization shall be known as the “Tech Billiards Club” Article
II:
Our purpose is to promote billiard activities at Texas Tech and in the
surrounding community, while also helping improve students’ skills at billiard
games. Article
III:
Membership is open to anyone enrolled at Texas Tech; however, only
registered Texas Tech students may hold office or participate in NAC tournaments
and events. Failure to abide by rules of the Tech Billiards Club or Texas Tech
University will result in expulsion of membership. Expulsion will become
effective upon a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee. Dues will be decided
annually by members vote to offset cost of running the club. Article
IV:
Tech Billiards Club officers which constitute the Executive Committee:
President duties include:
Overseeing and running
meetings
Scheduling meetings
Being the liaison to the
advisor and external functions
Servicing as publicist by
informing the public
Any other duties that should
come up
Vice President duties
include:
Assisting the President in
duties
Acting as President in
his/her absence
Chairs and oversees special
assignments as assigned
Secretary duties include: Keeping
and distributing information to members via email or by phone
Maintaining accurate
membership lists
Arranging publicity for
organization events
Treasurer duties include:
Collecting dues and debts
owed to the organization
Preparing annual budget
Ensuring organization
adheres to allotted budget
Reporting on financial
matters to Executive Committee
Web Officer
Maintains organization
website
Updates organization website
as needed
Develops and maintains
organization email lists
---All officers serve one year from April to April. Positions are to be
filled by secret ballot of members present at the election meeting at which
candidates may make a short campaign speech.
---Members and President
automatically select unopposed candidates. The President breaks tied votes.
---Any officer who fails to
attend regular meetings without giving notice shall receive a warning letter. If
the warning letter is ignored, the officer may be removed by majority vote of
the Executive Committee.
---An officer can be removed
from office only by unanimous request for resignation by all other officers in a
private meeting. If the officer refuses to resign, a vote for removal by a
two-thirds majority of club members present at the following scheduled club
meeting shall be required to remove the officer.
---If an officer resigns or
is removed, an election must be held to fill the vacancy. The election shall be
held according to the rules for regular elections. The remaining officers shall
assume the duties of the vacant officers until it is filled. Article
V:
Members
and elected officers, through a majority vote, shall hold meetings weekly at a
designated time and place. Irregular meetings will be posted via email and on
website as information is available. Tournaments will be announced, as dates are
known. Article
VI:
The Tech Billiards Club is not affiliated with any other organization. Article
VII:
Proposed activities include:
---To attend weekly
meetings. ---To
attend tournaments held by other billiard organizations from Texas universities. ---To
host billiards tournaments at Texas Tech University and the surrounding
community.
---To host billiards
tournament where other student organizations from Texas universities will
attend.
---To attend tournaments
within the city of Lubbock, Texas.
---To study and practice
billiards. Article
VIII:
The advisor shall be chosen by the Executive Committee. The advisor’s
responsibilities include:
---Assisting student leaders
and members with administrative details.
---Act as liaison between
Texas Tech University and the Tech Billiards Club departments.
---Meeting regularly with
the Executive Committee to discuss organizational matters. Article
IX:
Procedures will be handled according to Robert’s Rule of Order. Article
X:
In adopting amendments, any amendment requires a proposer and seconder,
who must be dues paying members, and majority vote decides the adoption. Any
person not up-to-date on their dues will forfeit their right to a voice or a
vote. Article
XI:
All members agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth in the
Texas Tech Student Affairs Handbook, Code of Student Conduct and will sign an
agreement stating as a member he/she will abide by the rules.
