MORE INFO ON THE SPRING SCHEDULE TO COME!

Texas Tech took the 2nd place overall award at both the fall and spring TIFA tournaments, which are our state championships.  Congrats to the entire team!

Texas Tech took two teams to the NPDA National tournament in Portland, Oregon.  Senior Sonja Ralston and sophomore Steven Chang advanced to the Triple Octo-Final round, and first year students Gianpaolo Macerola and Bethany Eudy also competed successfully at this top caliber tournament.  Congrats!

Texas Tech has qualified both Texas slots for the Interstate Oratorical Association tournament to be held in April in Houston, TX.  Senior Sonja Ralston and sophomore Steven Chang took the top two slots in Persuasion at Spring TIFA to earn this honor.  IOA is the oldest speech tournament in existence, and we are proud to send these excellent competitors to represent TTU and the state of Texas.  Congrats Steven & Sonja!

Texas Tech has qualified six individuals and 16 slots for the AFA-NIET to be held April 5-7, 2003 in Oxford, Mississippi.  The following students and events are qualified:

Steven Chang:  CA, Pers, Imp, Ext

Amador Juarez:  Imp

Gianpaolo Macerola:  POI

Sonja Ralston:  Imp, Info, Ext, Pers, CA, ADS

Eric Schoenthal:  Duo (w/ Lindsay)

Lindsay Stansell:  Duo (w/ Eric), POI, Prose, Poetry

OXFORD UPDATE:  Led by Sonja Ralston, the TTU Forensics team had an incredible weekend at the AFA-NIET.  Sonja reached the quarterfinals in Informative, semifinals in CA, finished in 5th place in Impromptu, and WON the national championship in Persuasion!  This performance allowed her to finish as the 10th overall speaker at the tournament!  The team also recieved an award, as Tech placed 20th at the tournament. This marks the 6th straight year that Tech has finished in the top 20!  Congrats Sonja and the TTU squad!

Over the past year, we have traveled to over twenty tournaments in six states.  We maintain an active national schedule that exposes us to a variety of styles and formats.  We will be releasing the fall 2003 schedule very soon, so come back!
