kuya/ate - by: chris on 14 sept 2006
Kuya/Ate is a new program that assists new students with their transition into life at Tech. It connects newly admitted students with continuing students, so that continuing students may act as a mentor/guide/confidant/friend/etc. It is a means to socialize, network, interact, and gain academic support.

Why participate in the Kuya/Ate Program?

As new students, the transition into college carries along with it several new challenges and experiences. New school, new environment, new friends - new everything. This program is designed to help link you to other students, in order to aid with your transition into college life.

As continuing students, we have all experienced the transition phase into college, we know what it's like, and we know how helpful it is to know someone is there who's willing to help. This is the reason why it is beneficial for continuing students to give back and offer a helping hand to newer students.

Benefits to Having a Kuya/Ate:
  • Having rides to events
  • Getting help on HW if possible
  • Having someone pay for things (meals, outings, etc)
  • Having someone take care of you whenever you need it
  • Having someone make you feel a part of a family
  • And so much other things
Benefits of Having a Little Sibling:
  • Having a sense of responsibility
  • Having someone to talk to and hang out with
  • And so much other things

If you want to be a Kuya-Ate big, email us here.
If you want to be a Kuya-Ate little, email us here.
