Tournament Rules

• Single Elimination – The winners advance to the next round and the losers are out of the tournament.
• 3-on-3 Self-Officiated Tournament – Players must call their own fouls. If a player is in the act of shooting and makes the basket, the basket counts and the ball changes possession. If the offensive player is not in the act of shooting or does not make the basket, possession is retained and ball is checked-in at the top of the key. The success of this tournament depends solely on good sportsmanship and fair play. Players also must call all defensive violations.
• Playing Time – Shall be 16 minutes running clock or 21 points, whichever comes first. Score goes by 2’s and 3’s.
• Ties – If a game is tied after 16 minutes, then it goes to sudden death and the first team to score will be declared the winner.
• Check in line - The imaginary “check line” is the 3-point arc. To start the game, after a score, or after a foul is awarded, a player must pass the ball in from the check line, all balls must be checked by a defensive player.
• Change of possessions – On any change of possession (defensive rebound or steal), the ball must be returned to anywhere beyond the 3-point Line before the ball can be advanced.
• Substitutions – Subs may be made after a basket or any stoppage in play.
• Conduct – an individual cannot foul out of a game BUT may be ejected by a Intramural staff or Residence Hall staff member. Flagrant fouls and/or any act of misconduct, physical, or verbal, directed towards any individual, will result in an immediate ejection. All disciplinary situation involving individuals or teams will be reviewed and sent to the appropriate people.
Game balls – Teams are responsible for providing their own game ball.
