Vernon, Texas-
Three inches of rain in a two hour period didn't stop the fourth of five fall Southwest region rodeos from happening.
Texas Tech had several individuals represent Texas Tech very well.
- Luke Creasy English major from Alberta, Canada tied for third in go round one, third in the short go, and third in the average in the bareback bronc riding event maintaining his lead in the Southwest Region Bareback riding standings.

- Sterling Smith, from Post, Texas and senior sports science major placed 6th in the finals and 6th overall in the calf roping.
- Logan Allen senior Agriculture Leadership major from Crescent , Iowa placed first in the saddle bronc riding finals and finished second in the aggregate (average).
- Clay Brown freshman Agricultural Business major from Stephenville and Matt Pemelton junior Petroleum Engineering major from Pharr, Texas qualified for the Team roping finals and ended up 9th overall.
- Bonner Bolton senior Art major from Odessa placed third in the finals and finished 2nd overall in the bull riding. After the mud dried Logan Allen was crowned reserve champion all around cowboy for his 6th place finish in the bull riding and second place finish in the bronc riding
- Dani McGuire junior Agricultural Applied Economics major from Gardendale placed second in the breakaway roping finals and tied for third overall.
- Taylor Langdon freshman Animal Science major from Aubrey tied for 4th placed in the first go and ended up 8th overall.

The 60th annual Texas Tech University NIRA Rodeo is this Thursday-Saturday, October 15-17, 2009 at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center (see www.afs.ttu.edu/horse for a map). Purchase tickets at the gate for $8.00 Thursday & Friday nights and for $10 Saturday night. Performances are 7PM nightly. THURSDAY ONLY is University Night and students with valid TTU ID will be admitted for half price ($4)!
