College National Finals Rodeo 2011

Our women’s team were crowned 2011 southwest regional champions and finished 4th in the nation!
Texas Tech University qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo. The students qualifing were:
- San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. scholarship recipient Kirsten Stubbs, breakaway calf roping
- SALE scholarship recipient Taylor Langdon, 2011 southwest region champion barrel racer, finished 5th in the nation
- SALE scholarhip recipient 2010 Reserve National Champion & 2011 Southwest Region champion goat tier Bailey Guthrie, finished 5th in the nation after winning the final go round at the CNFR.
Tech’s men’s team finished 19th in the nation.
- Luke Creasy, 2010 & 2011 Southwest region champion bareback bronc rider represented Tech at the CNFR. He and his wife Kylee are celebrating Luke’s graduating with honors in English this month from Texas Tech, the arrival of their first born son Cash June 2, 2011, and finished 14th in the nation.
- Another SALE scholarship recipient, C.J. Kerr was crowned 2011 Southwest region champion steer wrestler, placed first in go round two and third in the finals to finish 5th in the nation.
The Texas Tech rodeo for the 2011-2012 season will be October 20-22, 2011 in the indoor arena of the Texas Tech Equestrian Center and will host the entire Southwest Region consisting of 16 colleges and universities. |
