The Texas Tech Rodeo Association annually gives the Dub Parks Memorial Award to one person who has significantly contributed to the success of Tech Rodeo. Named for Douglas "Dub" R. Parks, the Association decided to establish this award as a memorial to Dub for those individuals who embody his traits of leadership, honor, and willingness to work.
Dub Parks was president of the Association in 1953-1954 and competed in Bareback Riding. He died suddenly after his graduation in 1954 from a tragic auto accident.
The award is an honor not just for "a job well done" in as much as appreciation from the Association members themselves.
