Douglas "Dub" R. Parks was an Ag Com? major at Texas Technological College from 1949 to 1954?. He very much was involved in the social activities of the time along with rodeoing Bareback for Tech. He died not too long after graduating from Tech in 1954. The arena was named after him in the later 1950s along with a buckle award the "Dub Parks Memorial Buckle" also in the later 1950s.
