Dr. Tom Arsuffi is the Director of the Field Research Station at Texas Tech University-Junction. His research focuses on stream and wetlands ecology, endangered and exotic species, population and community ecology, nutritional ecology, aquatic entomology, invertebrate zoology, decomposition, invertebrate and fungal ecology, restoration ecology, and environmental and science education.
Dr. Arusuffi is a member of the honorary organization Sigma Xi and several professional organizations, including the North American Benthological Society, the Ecological Society of America, the Texas Academy of Science, the Organization of Biological Field Stations, the International Association of Theoretical and Applied Limnologists, and the American Institute of Biological Sciences. Dr. Arsuffi has served as the Vice President, President-Elect, President, and Past President of the Texas Academy of Science (1998-2002), and he was the invited representative of the American Institute of Biological Science/Organization of Biological Field Stations, serving to inform Congress on the value of research funding and the role of field stations. Dr. Arsuffi has been recognized with the Excellence in Service award (1998), as a Fellow of the Texas Academy of Science (1992), and Excellence in Scholarship from the Beta Beta Beta (1990).
