Water Leadership Council
In 2005, the TTU water entities proposed the establishment of the Texas Tech University Water Leadership Council (WLC), which would include the directors of the CASNR Water Center, the Center for Water Law and Policy, ICASALS, and the Water Resources Center. These four positions would form the core of the WLC and ensure the representation of the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences, and Engineering, as well as the School of Law.
The WLC leads the Texas Tech University Water Initiative, whose efforts focus on raising the visibility of water-related skills and accomplishments in addition to facilitating interdisciplinary interaction among faculty across the campus. The WLC works with the administration and faculty for promotion of extramural funding, public outreach, and technology transfer.
Rather than acting as a barrier to any faculty member's past, present, or future efforts in water-related issues, the WLC serves to provide assistance when appropriate.
